ALI A. ALI SENTENCED UPON HIS CONVICTION FOR BANKRUPTCY FRAUD

United States Attorney Anthony J. Jenkins announced today that Ali A. Ali, age 31, was sentenced upon his guilty plea to Count One of a seventeen-count Indictment, which charged Bankruptcy Fraud, on February 10, 2006, by the Honorable Chief Judge James T. Giles, Sitting by Designation, in the Division of St. Thomas/St. John.

The charged offense arose out of a scheme to defraud creditors of East End Mini- Mart,.a business of which Ali was president, by filing a bankruptcy petition on behalf of East End Mini-Mart, to conceal from creditors the fact that their money had been diverted to his personal use.

Ali was sentenced to one year supervised probation and was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of approximately $58,000, a fine in the amount of $100 and a $100 special assessment. U. S. Attorney Jenkins commended the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who investigated this case.
