FBI Arrests Two Individuals in Connection with Armored Car Robbery and
Requests the Public’s Assistance Regarding Fugitive From Justice
Luis S. Fraticelli, Special Agent in Charge, San Juan Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Pedro Toledo-Davila, Superintendent of the Police of Puerto Rico (POPR), announce the arrests of two individuals for their alleged involvement in the Loomis Fargo armored car robbery which occurred on Wednesday evening, July 26, 2006 at the Canton Mall in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. During this robbery, a Loomis Fargo messenger was shot in the leg by one of the perpetrators involved in this crime.
On Friday, July 28, 2006, law enforcement officers arrested, without incident, Elias Cruz-Marrero, age 29 and Jonathan Baez-Rodriguez, a ge 21, at their residences in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. In addition, three federal search warrants were conducted at three different residences in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. At this time, no details can be released regarding the evidentiary items seized during these search warrants.
Cruz and Baez are charged with violation of Title 18, U.S. Code, Section 1951 (Interference with commerce by threats or violence). Cruz and Baez face a maximum penalty of imprisonment of up to 20 years for this robbery. They are currently incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.
In addition to the two suspects arrested on Friday, July 28, 2006, law enforcement is actively attempting to locate a third suspect, Alfredo Cabrera-Rivera, age 24. He is currently considered to be a fugitive from justice. The public is cautioned that he should be treated as Armed and Extremely Dangerous. Attached is a photograph of Cabrera.

This case is being investigated by the FBI-Safe Streets Violent Crimes Task Force and the Police of Puerto Rico-Bank Robbery Unit.
The public is reminded that a criminal complaint contains only charges and is not evidence of any guilt. The defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial. The U.S. government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
