PRESS RELEASE ARREST OF INDIVIDUAL WANTED FOR CARJACKING On October 2, 2007, Sandry Garcia-Garcia, an individual wanted for federal carjacking, was arrested in York, Pennsylvania by the York County Sheriff’s Department. Garcia was observed by the York County Sheriff’s Department committing a traffic violation. When the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, a chase ensued, followed by a foot pursuit. Shortly thereafter, Garcia was arrested. On October 3, 2007, Garcia was taken into federal custody by FBI Agents from the Philadelphia Division of the FBI. Garcia will eventually be extradited to Puerto Rico to face charges for his alleged involvement in the carjacking of April 12, 2006. On April 12, 2006, a Puerto Rican businessman and one other man were physically and violently assaulted by four armed suspects in the parking lot of Condominium Luchetti, 1359 Luchetti Street, San Juan, Puerto Rico. The suspects overpowered the businessman and the second victim, forcing them down a flight of stairs of the condominium. Their hands, feet, mouth, and eyes were then tied with duct tape. When the subject who was guarding the victims left for a few minutes, both victims were able to escape. When they reached the street area of the condominium, the businessman’s 2003 Mercedes Benz E55 was being driven out of the condominium’s parking lot. The residence of the businessman was also robbed during the time that he was tied up. A third victim, who was female was also assaulted and tied up in the businessman’s apartment by the suspects. On May 24, 2006, Angel Garcia-Alvarez was arrested for his involvement in the carjacking. On August 18, 2006, Garcia-Alvarez was convicted and sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment. In addition to the arrest of Sandry Garcia-Garcia, another suspect remains at large. This suspect is believed to be Ruben Garcia-Garcia and he is considered to be Armed and Dangerous. Ruben Garcia-Garcia is described as follows: Name: Ruben Garcia-Garcia Sex: Male Race: Black Age: 25 years old Date of Birth: April 7, 1981 Place of Birth: Dominican Republic Height: 5’10’ Weight: 160 pounds Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Ruben Garcia-Garcia should contact the San Juan FBI, 24 hours a day at (787) 754-6000. The FBI is also seeking information regarding the identity of the fourth suspect involved in this incident. The FBI is offering a reward for information which leads directly to the arrest and conviction of these remaining suspects. The public is reminded that an arrest or the filing of a criminal complaint is not evidence of any guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial. The U.S. government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
