PRESS RELEASE REQUEST FOR PUBLIC ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING FBI FUGITIVE WANTED FOR MURDERMichael Jason Registe is wanted for his alleged participation in a double homicide in Columbus, Georgia. On July 20, 2007, the Columbus Police Department responded to a shooting incident in which two males sitting inside a truck had suffered execution style gunshot wounds to the back of their heads. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene and the other died shortly afterward. Law enforcement investigation has determined Michael Jason Registe was allegedly responsible for these murders. On July 22, 2007, the Columbus Police Department obtained two felony arrest warrants charging Registe with the murders. On
July 23, 2007, a criminal complaint was obtained and a federal arrest
warrant was issued, charging Registe with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution
(UFAP) in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.
It is believed Registe may have fled to the U.S. Virgin Islands. On January 19, 2008, Registe was profiled on the program, "America's Most Wanted" in an effort to locate this fugitive. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000.00 for information that leads directly to the arrest of Michael Jason Registe. Attached is a photograph of Registe along with photographs of his known tattoos. He is currently considered to be a fugitive from justice, and the public is reminded that he should be considered Armed and Dangerous.
