JOSE FIGUEROA-SANCHA, FBI-SAN JUAN ASAC, NOMINATED AS POLICE OF PUERTO RICO SUPERINTENDENT

Today, Jose Figueroa-Sancha, FBI-San Juan Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC), was nominated as the Police of Puerto Rico Superintendent by Puerto Rico Governor elect Luis Fortuño.

The FBI congratulates Mr. Figueroa-Sancha on his new appointment as the Police of Puerto Rico Superintendent. He is an excellent and dedicated public servant. The FBI is confident he will succeed as the Police Superintendent. The FBI wishes him the best and looks forward to a continued relationship with him as the Superintendent, as the FBI has had with the previous Superintendents of the Police of Puerto Rico.

Mr. Figueroa-Sancha is scheduled to retire from the FBI on December 31, 2008.

It should be noted that once the FBI learned he was being considered for this position, Mr. Figueroa-Sancha was separated from all FBI Public Corruption investigations, and in addition, the appropriate notifications were made to FBI-Headquarters in Washington, D.C. However, Mr. Figueroa-Sancha will remain as the executive management supervisor for all of the other FBI-San Juan Criminal Programs until his retirement.
